Jakarta City Tour

Dyakarta (Dutch) / Jakarta (Japanese occupation) is the largest city and capital of Indonesia. Located at the northwest coast of Java, and the center of business and politics of Indonesia. Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi are the metropolitan area. A place where old and modern culture meets which I have experienced during our Jakarta City Tour.

ASEAN SECRETARIAT OFFICE

Before we head on to our city tour, we paid a visit to the office the ASEAN Secretariat and I, together with my Blogger colleagues and the rest of the Air Asia team, we met the current head of ASEAN during our short meeting in their office.

ASEAN – Association of Southeast Asian Nations is a regional intergovernmental organization, established on August 8th, 1967 where 5 Southeast Asian countries are the first members of this organization. These are Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore. Over the years Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Brunei joined the ASEAN as well.

MUSEUM BANK INDONESIA

After visiting the ASEAN Secretariat office, we head straight to the Museum Bank Indonesia. With an entrance fee of 17 PHP only. Inside the museum, you will see the history of Indonesian currency as well as the history of this building during the occupation of the Netherlands Indies. During that time, this building was a hospital and was abandoned in 1780.

It was demolished and re-designed by the famous Dutch architect Edward Cuypers and the facade of this old hospital building became a Neo-Renaissance with Javanese architecture.

MUSEUM WAYANG / PUPPET MUSEUM

My least favorite of all. I don’t like puppets or creepy dolls and statue and everything in here are creepy. Our tour guide even said not to take photos of some dolls inside the museum because it was said to be cursed or something. And that’s the reason why I cannot show you any photos inside the museum because I did not bother taking shots of it, and I can’t even look at it.
