When you hear about Boracay, the first thing that came to your mind is party and booze. You may be right in some ways but Boracay has so much more to offer other than booze and crazy party nightly. This time, I am going back to Boracay with friends to enjoy the beauty of the island for 4 days.
Going to Boracay Island from Manila is either by plane or boat/ship. Via plane, you can either choose via Kalibo (cheaper airfare) and Caticlan (a bit higher airfare) and the cheapest is via 2GO (boat/ship). Airfare cost from 3,000 PHP / 64 USD roundtrip via Manila-Kalibo-Manila, 4,500 PHP / 96 USD via Manila-Caticlan-Manila and can go high as 8,000 PHP / 170 USD on a high season month. 2GO is around 1,800 PHP / 38 USD (promo) roundtrip via Manila-Batangas-Manila.
You have 2 options: Rent a private van for 1,500 PHP / 32 USD or ride a public van for 150 PHP / 3 USD.
From Caticlan port to Boracay Island port you have to pay environmental fee for 75 PHP/ 1.5 USD , terminal fee for 100 PHP / 2.1 USD and boat fee/fare is only 25 PHP / .5 USD (day trip) and 30 PHP / .6 USD (night trip).
From Boracay Port, you have to rent a multi-cab going to your hotel/hostel. Most accommodations offer a free shuttle but if your hotel/hostel does not have any, you may rent a multi-cab for only 150 PHP / 3.1 USD only.
Right now, Boracay island is having a minor traffic problem due to road construction but it’s just few meters traffic unlike here in Manila that you will have to endure hours of traffic just to get to your destination. Good thing our multi-cab driver knows a short cut so we re not able to get tot he traffic area and from Boracay port to our hostel took only less than 20 minutes.
