Home made Creamy Tuna Empanada

I have been craving for Tuna Pie lately and my go-to online seller is EMPANALO. My childhood friend’s online business which they sell it for 20 Pesos per piece.

It’s creamy and I love it because it had veggies on it. However, they are from Las Pinas and I’m from Cavite. And whenever I order, I have to send it via Grab or Lalamove which will cost me 100 pesos / 2USD.

That’s why I search on the internet and I found a simple recipe and decided to give it a try.

I did a little tweak on the recipe. Here’s the recipe and ingredients:

Pie:

2 cups of all purpose flour

1 tbsp vegetable oil

3 tbsp butter

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp sugar

1/8 cup water

Tuna filing:

Spicy corned tuna (any brand of your choice)

3 cloves garlic and 1 medium onion

Cheese ( up to you how much you will add)

Diced carrots

1 tbsp flour and 1/4 cup water to make a paste

Salt and pepper to taste

Dash of Sriracha

Saute onion and garlic until golden brown and add carrots. Cook until soft and add a little salt and pepper. Add tuna in can and your paste mixture and lastly add your cheese.. cook for 3 minutes and set aside.

How to:

Mix all the wet and dry ingredients. I let my butter half melt in the microwave. Form a dough and kneed till it’s soft and no lumps.

Divide the dough into small balls about 8-10 pieces. And roll it using a rolling pin or bottle if you don’t have a pizza rolling pin. Make sure to dust your table before rolling the dough to prevent sticking in the table.

Fill your dough with your tuna mixture and sealed the dough to make a half circle with egg or water.

Deep fry until golden brown. Serve while hot.

Enjoy!
